MONDAY BLUES!!!

Early in the morning, my alarm beeps at 07:00 exactly, I grumble and pretend it isn't there. I give it a hard whack on the head and close my eyes once again as I made the same futile promise, that I make every morning, " five more minutes" and enter my wonderful dream world. I awoke to the world's worst betrayal once more. My alarm clock grinned triumphantly and flashed the number eight straight to my face. I bolted up, my back cold, having lost the warmth that my bed had given me for the past 6 hours. Cursing myself under my breath, "OK, Monday. Let's do this", I started getting ready for the worst day of the week, MONDAY! Why is it that Monday follows such a lovely Sunday? I had to compromise my first meal of the week as a consequence OF waking up late. Summoning all of my remaining courage, I left my apartment to face the world I'd been successfully avoiding for the past few days. I st...

PROFESSIONAL AUTODIDACTS !

photo credit: Reuters/Carlos Barria Family occupations are usually unique, special, and worth preserving. The majority of the craftsmen are claimed to have learned their trade from their forefathers and had it ingrained in their DNA. However, are they professional?  Is certification required for all professions? Despite our love for artists and their hard-won abilities, can't we embrace them as a professional path without a formal education? People may wonder how you can trust someone and offer them a project that will endu...

Femininity of architecture

Architecture is a field where we have equal number of male and female population than compared to other professions. Have you ever considered the gender of architecture? Do they have their own emotions and characteristics? If so, how are they expressed? Let's say Architecture is masculine in nature, because of its rough brought up, it's tough core. True, that is a fair point. However, I must express my disagreement. Beauty comes in different form, shape and color, so does architecture.  Through ornamentation and fluid structures, architecture represents the strong essence of femininity. We always end up decorating a building in some way, no matter how hard we try not to. Let's go back to the time when women wore a lot of jewelry and were judged based on how much they wore. Despite the fact that ornamentation is seen as a waste of time, resources, and labor in the modern days, It always transports us to a period when it was considered a form of self-expression. As time pa...
